He’s funny, he’s talented, he’s a jack of all trades. Whether he’s video editing or coming up with snappy captions for client content, we are really glad to have Adam Fricke in the office.
Parachute Media: Tell us something quirky about yourself.
Adam: The summer after I graduated high school I found an abandoned duck egg in my family’s backyard. I took it upon myself to make a DIY incubator using a styrofoam cooler. I didn’t really think it would work but 32 days later I helped the little guy escape from his shell. I appropriately named him Samuel L. Quackson (Sam for short). We did everything together for about 3 months until he was fully grown. He would follow me around the house and pick fights with our dog who was about 12 times his size. When he got too big to play in the bathtub, we let him live in our screened in pool area. Once he figured out how to fly, we released him back into the wild. I haven’t seen him since but I still whistle and call for him whenever I see ducks.
Parachute Media: What is your grand, audacious goal?
Adam: I’m still trying to decipher what that looks like in terms of a career. But when I lie on my death bed with a burrito in my belly, I hope to look back on life and feel I’ve made a positive impact on people in some way. If I can do some work that lives longer than I do, that’d be cool too.
Adam: Donald Miller is one of my favorite writers. He’s developed an admirable business and selfless nonprofit, and that doesn’t even touch on his writing. As for Don’s written works, he has the ability to combine depth, transparency, self-deprecating humor, and confidence while making it seem effortless. When I read his books it feels like we’re having a conversation over whiskey and a campfire. He lives in Nashville so maybe one day we can be friends and do just that. I’ll have him read this shoutout and he’ll laugh while my face turns red and I’ll nervously take another sip of whiskey.
Parachute Media: Do you have a personal mission statement?
Adam: I’ve adopted a personal mission statement of “Always Forward.” It’s easy for me to sink into routine and comfort. Always Forward is a simple reminder to be bold, try new things, and strive for growth.
Parachute Media: If you could Skype with anyone living or dead, who would it be?
Adam: My future wife. I’d ask her where she is right now and apologize in advance for being late to our first date.
