Hack #1

Use campaign budget optimization, if you’re not already. Soon, all campaigns will automatically run this way, but no exact date has been set yet. For one of our clients, we run retailer campaigns with different geo-targeted ad sets. To keep spend equal among ad sets, use an ad set spend limit once the campaign budget optimization setting rolls out. This will ensure that all regions receive the resources needed to maximize their reach and engagement.

Hack #2

Woman working using Facebook Business Manager on her phone.Try to stick to no more than 4 ad sets within a campaign and no more than 4 ads within an ad set. Adopting this “Rule of 4” mindset will help make the most of the ads you’ve strategically built, without stressing your budget with too many options. Yes, it is always good to continuously check ads and optimize for success. On the contrary, it can be hard for campaigns to learn how to best meet your brand needs if there are too many options without enough time and money. If need be, once ads are up and running with enough time to make it through the learning period, you can pause ad sets and/or ads and update your campaign with new ones.

Hack #3

Incorporate lookalike audiences frequently. Lookalike audiences are your friends. Facebook’s algorithms do the hard work for you. They build out audiences that specifically mimic the people who have engaged with your brand in the past. Make the most of your budget by delivering ads to people who are more likely to engage with your page.

Hack #4

Have you ever built out an AWESOME creative graphic to support your newest launch only to get all the way to hitting ‘publish’ on your campaign and learn that the delivery might be low as a result of too much text? This can be a defeating blow, but using the text overlay tool from Facebook can come in handy.  Sometimes, even when you follow all the rules, your ad will still get flagged for having too much text. At this point, you can suggest a manual review for your ad.

Facebook is aware of the issues with the text rule for advertisers. Sometimes their system has a glitch in the AI that triggers ads that should not be impacted by the 20% rule. Skip the wait that comes with manual review by contacting someone through the Advertiser Help Center for a more efficient review process.
