“I love creating designs that really resonate with brands and tell the story of said brand. Motion graphics have always been one of my favorite mediums in graphic design, and I am excited to learn more about motion design and utilize that knowledge here at Parachute.”

When Laura Beth isn’t at work, you can find her exploring the outdoors, traveling and chillin’ with her golden retriever, Bennie. Her love for dogs fits in perfectly with the rest of our fur-friendly team.

What’s something quirky about you?

I have double-jointed arms, I eat ranch on everything, and my biggest pet peeve is straw wrappers. Also, when I have to drive long distances alone, I like to attempt to sing childhood classics, such as “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and “The Wheels on the Bus” in an Aretha Franklin-esque voice.

Who is one of your professional heroes and why?

Aaron Draplin of Draplin Design Company. He has taken countless brands and built them visually from the very beginning, as well as creating amazing branding artwork for companies like Patagonia, Nike, COAL, Jerry Garcia, and many others. I enjoy the simplicity of his techniques and his entire story of how he got where he is today.

What is your favorite quote?

“Decide what to be and go be it.” This quote comes from one of my favorite Avett Brothers songs and has always meant so much to me. It always reminds me that with practice, dedication, and determination, I can be whatever, whoever I want to be in this life.

What is your grand audacious goal?

My grand goal is to live a life that I am proud of, and one where I am always learning, adventuring to new places, and challenging myself/being challenged by others. I think those criteria will allow me to be the best version of myself, and hopefully make others I care about happy at the same time.

If you could Skype with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?

This is a tough question because there are so many influential people that I would love to speak to. But if I had to choose right now, I would choose Dave Matthews. Not only is he one of my favorite artists, but I also just think he would be one of the most genuinely interesting, creative, and intelligent people to speak to if given the opportunity.
